New Testament Survey - Module 3: The Pauline Epistles
Hi everyone, and welcome to the third module of the New Testament Survey Course.
This module covers the life and writings of the Apostle Paul. These books cover Paul's teaching on theology, discipleship, the church, and the ethics and practices of Christian life, among other things. In these books, Paul applied the significance of all that Jesus accomplished to the individual lives of Christians and to the corporate life and mission of the Christian church.
Through this module, you will learn the background, organization, content, and themes of all of these New Testament books. But you will also be invited to explore the significance and application of all of these insights to your own personal life and ministry.
Module Objectives and Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this module, the student will:
- Place the people, places, and events related to Paul's life and ministry into a general chronology.
- Explain the main message(s), organization, theme(s), and/or theology of each of the Pauline Epistles.
- Explain and apply the message of salvation, its reason(s), means(s), blessings and demands to the student's contemporary situation.
- Describe and apply the nature of Christian discipleship and church life (both individual and corporate aspects) to the student's contemporary situation.
- Have a growing understanding of the nature of discipleship, sanctification, and the mission of the Christian church, as described in Paul's Epistles, and a desire to grow in the experience of each of these.
